“We”, “us” and “Comtra” mean the above. “You” means the person or company using the service.
2. What Comtra is, and what these terms cover
Comtra is an online service for designing and maintaining design systems with the help of AI: you describe what you want, and Comtra generates interfaces, design tokens and components consistent with a chosen design system.
These terms cover everything we operate under the Comtra name — the web hub, the Figma plugin, and any connected service we provide alongside them. One account, one set of rules: you do not agree to something different by opening a different part of the product.
Comtra is a digital service supplied continuously over the internet, not a one-off download. This matters legally: it means the consumer protections for services apply, including the withdrawal right in section 6.
3. Your account and how this agreement is made
You need an account to use Comtra. You must give accurate details and keep your login safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
These terms become binding when you accept them — you confirm them at checkout when you place an order, and that acceptance is recorded, with its date, by our payment provider. Before that point you are free to read them and walk away.
If you reach Comtra without passing through checkout — a free plan, or an invitation — these terms apply from the moment you create your account and start using the service. There is nothing else to sign and no separate agreement: this document is the entire contract for every part of Comtra (see section 2), so there is no second text in the product that could say something different. If we later change it, section 13 applies.
You must be at least 18, or old enough in your country to enter a contract.
Your access tokens are yours alone. You sign in with a magic link or through a connected account, and the session token that follows is the key to everything in your workspace. Do not pass it to anyone, and do not paste it into third-party tools: a token handed to someone else is indistinguishable, to us, from you.
Paid plans include a number of seats. Each seat is for one named person. Sharing a single seat between several people is not permitted (see section 9).
4. Plans, credits and prices
Plans, prices and included credits are shown on the pricing page before you buy, and are the prices that apply to your order. At the time of writing:
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per month) | Credits / month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro | €14 | €10 | 200 |
| Team | €39 | €29 | 700 |
| Studio | €99 | €74 | 2 000 |
| Azienda | €299 | €224 | 6 000 |
Paying
Payments are handled by Stripe. You can pay by card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank transfer, depending on what is available in your country — the options appear at checkout. We never see or store your card details: they go to Stripe directly.
The total you pay is always shown before you confirm. Whatever taxes apply to your country and your status are calculated at checkout and included in the amount you see, so the figure you confirm is the figure you are charged. Nothing is added afterwards.
If you are buying as a business and provide a valid VAT number, that is collected at checkout and appears on your invoice.
Italian customers: Comtra operates under the Italian flat-rate scheme (regime forfettario), so invoices carry no Italian VAT and show the exemption wording required by law instead. If you are a business, there is therefore no VAT for you to reclaim on this invoice.
How credits work
- Credits are the unit Comtra uses to meter AI work. Different actions cost different amounts, shown in the app before you confirm.
- Your credit allowance is reset at the start of each billing period. Unused credits do not carry over to the next period.
- Credits have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money, except where a refund is due under section 6 or under your statutory rights.
The free plans
Two plans cost nothing and are not subscriptions: Free, which includes a one-off gift of 25 credits and nothing more, and BYOK, described below. They renew nothing and charge nothing, so there is nothing to cancel — you can simply stop using them, or ask us to delete the account.
Because no payment is involved, sections 5, 6 and 13 (renewal, withdrawal, price changes) do not apply to them. Everything else does.
Bring your own key (BYOK)
Comtra offers a free plan where you supply your own AI provider key and pay that provider directly. This plan is free with no credits included.
What “free for life” means: it covers the first released version of the Comtra hub and the skills shipped with that version, for as long as you keep your account. It is not a promise that every future version, feature or skill will also be free.
5. Duration, renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically — monthly plans every month, annual plans every year — until you cancel.
You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for; you keep access until then, and you are not charged again.
Cancelling must be as easy as subscribing. Since 19 June 2026, European rules require a clearly labelled cancellation function for contracts concluded online. If you cannot find it or it does not work, write to hello@comtra.dev and we will cancel for you, with the same effect and the same date as if you had used the button.
6. Right of withdrawal (consumers)
If you are a consumer — buying for purposes outside your trade or profession — you have 14 days from the day the contract is concluded to withdraw, without giving a reason and without penalty.
To withdraw, tell us in any clear statement, for example by email to hello@comtra.dev. You do not need a particular form of words.
What you get back
- If you have not used any credits, you receive a full refund.
- If you have used some credits, and you asked us to start the service immediately during the 14 days, we may keep an amount proportionate to what you have used. The rest is refunded.
- Refunds are made within 14 days of us being told, using the same payment method you used.
By starting to use Comtra within the withdrawal period you are asking us to begin the service straight away, and you accept that a proportionate amount may be retained if you then withdraw. This is why the app asks you to confirm before spending credits.
These rights are yours by law. Nothing in this document removes or limits them.
7. What you own
You own what you create with Comtra. Designs, design tokens, components and code generated for you are yours, in full, including for commercial use. We claim no ownership over them and no licence to reuse them.
You keep ownership of anything you upload — brand assets, files, design system documents. You grant us only the permission technically needed to run the service for you: storing your files, sending your instructions to an AI provider, and showing the result back to you.
We own Comtra itself — the software, the interface and our own design system catalogue. Using Comtra does not transfer any of that to you.
One honest caveat about AI output. AI models can produce similar results for different people given similar instructions, and the legal status of AI-generated material is still unsettled in several countries. We can give you everything we hold, but no one can promise that a given output is unique or protectable by copyright.
8. AI providers and where your data goes
To generate results, Comtra sends your instructions and relevant project content to third-party AI providers. Depending on the model you choose, that may be:
- Anthropic (Claude) · OpenAI · Google (Gemini) · Mistral · DeepSeek · Groq · Hugging Face
- Or, on the BYOK plan, the provider whose key you supplied — in which case your relationship is with them.
The model in use is shown in the app before you generate. How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
9. What you may not do
- No reselling. You may not resell access to Comtra, nor pass our AI capacity on to third parties, nor build a competing service on top of it.
- No seat sharing. Each seat is for one named person. Shared logins are not permitted.
- No unlawful or infringing content. You may not use Comtra to produce illegal material, or to reproduce trade marks and works belonging to others.
- No automated abuse. No bots, scraping or automated request volume aimed at draining credits or copying our catalogue.
- No deceptive output. No undisclosed deepfakes, no defamatory material, and nothing built to mislead people about whether a human or a machine made it.
What you upload is yours to answer for
You may only upload material you own, or that you have properly acquired — a licence, or written permission from whoever does own it. We do not check where your files come from, and we are not in a position to: that is why the responsibility stays with you.
Other people's personal data — photographs, contacts, private documents — needs a legal basis before you upload it, such as their consent or a contract with them. If you upload it, you are the one who must be able to show that basis.
Labelling AI output
If you use what Comtra generates at work, for a client, or anywhere professional, you are responsible for applying the “Made with AI” label that the destination platform or the law requires.
This is already an obligation in Europe. Article 50 of the EU AI Act has applied since 2 August 2026: content generated or manipulated by AI must be marked as such, in a form the recipient can detect. It applies to you as the person publishing the output, not to us as the tool — which is why we can tell you about it but cannot do it for you.
Blocked terms
Comtra applies an automatic filter that refuses instructions containing certain terms — those associated with unlawful content, abuse, or attempts to bypass the limits above. A refused instruction does not consume credits.
The filter is a safety net, not a judgement about you: it can occasionally refuse something legitimate. If that happens, write to hello@comtra.dev and we will look at it. It also does not shift responsibility — an instruction that gets through the filter is still yours, and section 9 still applies to it.
10. Availability
We work to keep Comtra available and to fix faults promptly, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, provider outages and faults happen.
Where our pricing page mentions a service level such as “99.9%”, that figure is an operational objective, not a contractual guarantee, and does not by itself give a right to compensation.
What that objective does not do. Calling it non-binding does not remove our duty toward consumers to supply a service that works for the whole period you pay for. If Comtra stops working properly, a consumer can still ask us to put it right or to reduce the price proportionately. That is the law, and this clause does not change it.
11. Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close an account that breaches section 9, or where payment fails and is not settled after we have asked. Except in serious cases, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
If we close your account, you may export your projects for 30 days afterwards. Write to us and we will provide your data.
12. Our responsibility
We are responsible for damage we cause by failing to meet these terms, up to what could reasonably be expected when the contract was made.
What we do not do with your work
- We do not train anything on your content. Comtra has no model of its own and no training pipeline. Your instructions and files are used to produce your result and nothing else.
- We do not review your generations. Nobody at Comtra reads through what you produce as a matter of course. We look at specific content only when you ask us to — for support — or where we must in order to investigate a reported breach of section 9.
- Who can look, and when. Access to customer content is limited to our lead developers, and is granted through a one-time credential issued for a single support request. It happens only when you have asked us to investigate a problem, it is limited to what is needed to solve that problem, and the credential stops working when the problem is solved. Every access is recorded — who looked, when, and which request it related to. No one else on our side has access, and there is no routine or automated inspection of your work.
- We do store your work, because the service could not give it back to you otherwise: projects, artifacts and design system data sit in our database. Being stored is not the same as being read.
Because of this, what comes out of Comtra is yours and is your responsibility. AI models produce text and images from your instructions, without understanding them and without checking anything. Making sure a result is accurate, suitable, lawful and does not infringe anyone else's rights is your job — it is the judgement a professional is expected to make, and it is not one we are in a position to make for you.
We are not liable for consequences arising from output you chose to use.
If you are a consumer, nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury, for fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Your statutory rights come first.
13. Changes to prices and to these terms
If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect. You can cancel before the new price applies, with no penalty. If you do not cancel, the new price applies from your next renewal.
The same notice applies if we raise what an action costs in credits. Your plan includes a number of credits, but each action spends a different amount of them — so making an action more expensive reduces what your subscription is worth, even though the price on the invoice has not moved. We treat that as a price change and give you the same 30 days and the same right to cancel. Lowering a cost, or adding something new, does not need notice.
Which version applies
The version that governs is the one published at this address, identified by the date and version number at the top of the page. That is always the current text.
We may update these terms — for example when the service changes or the law does. For anything significant we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, by email to the address on your account. Until that date, the version you accepted keeps applying to you. From that date the new one applies, unless you cancel first: if you do not accept a significant change you may cancel with no penalty, exactly as for a price change.
Ask us and we will send you the text of an earlier version, so you can see what changed.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Italian law.
If you are a business, the courts of Terni, Italy have exclusive jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you can bring proceedings there. You may also use the European Online Dispute Resolution platform.
15. The small print that is actually useful
If one clause falls, the rest stands. If a court finds any part of these terms invalid or unenforceable, that part is treated as removed and everything else continues to apply. Where the invalid part protected a right you have by law, that right applies in its place.
Language. This agreement is written in English, and the English text is the one that governs. If we publish a translation and the two disagree, the English version wins — except where the law of your country requires otherwise, in which case it does.
Not enforcing something once does not waive it. If we let a breach pass, we are not giving up the right to act on it, or on a similar one, later.
Transfers. You may not transfer your account or this agreement to someone else without our agreement. If Comtra itself is ever sold or reorganised, we may transfer this agreement to the new owner — and if that happens we will tell you, and you may cancel.
Things outside anyone's control. Neither of us is in breach for a delay or failure caused by something genuinely beyond our control, such as a provider outage, a network failure or a legal order. This does not cover simply forgetting to pay.
